REALIZATION OF JOINT MIGRATION PROGRAM UNDERWAY
Representation office of the International Migration Organization in Azerbaijan in association with Azerbaijani Government is implementing the program “Creation of Potentials for Migration Management.” It its framework, the interdepartmental analytical working groups have been established to deal with migration issues. After consideration of the issues related to the migration policy, legislation and frontier control, these groups have made necessary recommendations to the appropriate Milli Majlis commissions for making amendments into a number of legislative acts. This is how the first stage of the creation of the advanced system of migration management in Azerbaijan has been completed. The commission on frontier control founding in the framework of the program makes recommendations to the relevant structures on management of the borders and examination of passengers in Bina airport. Experts from Great Britain, Canada and Holland regularly conduct “Migration Management” and “Observation of Border Crossing Procedure” trainings for the frontier guards.Today, 194 frontier guards have passed the trainings, and 15 are undertaking a year’s training in Poland.
