Washington-based correspondent of AzerTAj reports, according to the information of the American Electric Power (AEP), immediately before the mass power switch off, a heavy-duty was observed at a number of high voltage lines, stretched to the north-east of USA across Ohio.

This heavy-duty has become the reason of energetic “black hole” effect, as a result of which a major part of electric transmission lines went out of order due to overheating and other switched off automatically, Edicom reports.

Preliminary results of investigation show that first power breaks started at the sectors, owned by AEP jointly with FirstEnergy Corp.

It should be reminded that the US Energy Secretary, Spenser Abraham promised to hold a full-range investigation of this energetic accident. Best specialists in energetic field will be attracted to work on clearing up the reasons of the accident and to avoid such accidents in future, he said.

A damage caused to USA as a result of energetic crisis is estimated at 4-6 billion dollars. In particular, losses of New York come to 1 billion. Public food enterprises suffered most of all. Their damages are amounted at between 75 and 100 million US dollars. Foodstuff for the total sum of 250 million US dollars spoiled as a result of refrigerators’ off.
