Repair work still continues at the Azerbaijani GRES (electricity power station) as part of the maintenance work ahead of the next winter season 2003/2004. According to the press service of Azerenergy, currently the main area of work is concentrated on the second energy block, where major repairs are being made.

Construction of it is planned for the end of August. As a result the output from the block will be increased by 30-40 MW.

Earlier major repairs were made to energy unit #8, which has now been commissioned into exploitation.

Work still has to be done on block # 3 and 5, which should increase its output by 15-20 MW.

Generally about 60% of the work has been completed and the entire work should be completed by the middle of October.

Carrying out this exercise will help increase generated electricity to the record output of 2015 MW to ensure a reliable supply of electricity to the people of the country.
