The results of the National Stage of the International Contest “Sports and Olympism-2004” summed up on November 7 at the administrative building of the National Olympic Committee.

NOC conducts such contests before Olympic. NOC of Azerbaijan participated in such contest in 1999. Then, 6 best works were sent to the final stage held in Lozano. Zakir Mehdiyev’s picture “wrestler’s grip”, Telman Abbasov’s “National wrestling” ranked fourth and received a IOC’s special diploma among participants from 198 countries. These works were demonstrated in Sydney.

At this contest, 48 works were demonstrated.

The winning places among sculptors were distributed as follows: first - Natig Aliyev’s “Training”, second – Khanlar Ahmadov’s “Olympic Shot”, third – Arif Hajiyev’s “The archers”.

The places among painters were distributed as follows: first – Telman Abbasov’s “From Generation to Generation”, second – Rovshan Mammadov’s “Karate”, third – Arif Mardanov’s “Go Ahead for Victory”.

6 participants won encouragement prizes.

The winners will gain 1000 US dollars, the ones who secured the second place – 700 dollars, the third – 400 dollars.
