ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION AT OMBUDSPERSON OFFICE
During the even, Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova noted that rights of children hold an important place among human rights and freedoms, and that today, necessary measures are taken for realization of the idea to create happy world for children. Under the support of UNICEF - like in a number of other countries - very important programs on children’s protection are being implemented in Azerbaijan as well, she said.
Other speakers including Chair of the Milli Majlis Standing Commission on Science and Education Sh. Asgarov, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population T. Budagov, Department Head of the Justice Ministry N. Mammadov and Deputy Chairman of the Republican Children’s Organization R. Akhuundova emphasized the importance of working with children, involvement of the young generation in solving existing problems, and told of the fruitful cooperation with UNICEF Azerbaijan Office.
Head of the UNICEF Azerbaijan Office Akif Saatchioglu pointed to importance of this meeting and the issues in hand, and noted that the Global Movement for Children had been scaled up in Azerbaijan.
In conclusion, Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova presented a Honorary Diploma to Mr. Saatchioglu who is leaving the office of representative of UNICEF in Azerbaijan.
