RUSSIA CONCERNED WITH SITUATION AT ITS BORDERS
Sergey Yastrzhembsky also stated: “There a re-orientation of routes of trespassing by terrorists to the territory of Chechnya from Azerbaijan to Georgia, and this is connected with the fact that special services of Azerbaijan detained and extradited to Russia the citizens suspected in terror acts”. He underlined that just this factor was taken into consideration by heads of illegal armed formations.
Touching the neighboring Turkey, Sergey Yastrzhembsky stated that in Turkey were acting forces rendering assistance the separatist terrorists in Chechnya. The Aide, however, added: “I do not mean that these acts are backed by Turkey”. Mr. Yastrzhembsky called on the Turkish government to cooperate with Russia to have opportunity in the early stage to liquidate terrorist threat.
It has to be mentioned that as a result of close cooperation of Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of joint combat against international terrorism, Azerbaijan last years gave to Russia tens of people accused in terrorism and backing it. High rank officials of Russia noted the successful cooperation with Azerbaijan in this field and highly appreciated it.
