RUSSIAN COMMUNITY TURNS 10
These words were uttered by chair of the Board of this community, MP of Azerbaijan Michael Zabelin, at the reception held at the embassy of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Russian community.
The speaker said that 12 years ago when Heydar Aliyev came to power, peace and tranquility was established in the land of Azerbaijan.
In accordance with the international principles, approved were democratic legal norms, all the citizens irrespective of their nationality, racial-ethnic belonging, granted were equal rights for free enjoyment of human rights and freedoms. Representatives of the Russian people, as other national minorities in the Republic, completely enjoy these rights and freedoms.
Also speaking was the ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Nikolay Ryabov, who expressed gratitude to the members of the community for maintaining the Russian culture, language, housing and traditions, for strengthening friendship among the nations.
On words of the first deputy foreign minister of Russia Vyacheslav Trubnikov, visiting Baku, in contrast to other CIS countries, in Azerbaijan there has never been any restrictions in regard with use of the Russian language or education in the Russian language. The Russian community is fairly called as one of the leading socio-political organization of Azerbaijan, he stressed. All these are the results of wise policy pursued by the great son of Azerbaijani people – Heydar Aliyev.
Then, Michael Zabelin presented honorary diplomas of the Community to the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan and other contributors of the diplomatic mission.
