“SILK ROAD” WORKSHOP HELD IN ANKARA
In his remarks, the chief of the Staff of Armed Forces of Turkey Hilmi Ozkek has noted, that within last twenty years priorities of NATO have changed, when the world collides with new threats, this Organization has turned to more flexible military-political structure.
Highly having estimated partnership of the North Atlantic Alliance with the new states in the Europe, Caucasus, the Central Asia, on the Balkans and the Near East, Mr. Hilmi Ozkek said that this expansion influences also cultural relations between the countries. He said: “As we assumed, the successes reached within the “Partnership for Peace” program, the Mediterranean dialogue and the Istanbul initiative of cooperation have brought us closer. The concept of partnership has three core factors. The first - decrease in probability of the conflicts among the countries-partners, the second - carrying out of reforms not only in military, but also in political sphere, the third - gradual strengthening of relations of the countries-partners in the field of education and training".
Having noted, that foreign policy of Turkey corresponds to the statement of great Ataturk “Peace in the country, peace over the world”, Mr. Ozkek has emphasized necessity of unification of efforts of all countries for maintenance of peace and stability all over the world”.
