SPEAKER RECEIVES IRAN’S FOREIGN MINISTER
Chairman of Milli Majlis reminded that Iran was one of the first countries to recognize state independence of Azerbaijan. This country has always supported fair position of Azerbaijan in the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict on the international arena, condemned aggressive policy of Armenia. Mr. Alaskarov said Azerbaijan welcomes unchanged position of Iran as for this problem, and believes that Iran would further support the Azerbaijan’s demand to liberate unconditionally its occupied territories. He also dwelt on the inter-parliamentary links of the two countries.
Manouchehr Mottaki expressed satisfaction with the existing bilateral relations between two countries, stating that President Ilham Aliyev pursues the political line of Heydar Aliyev for strengthening of these relations.
The Minister disclosed his country’s position regarding developments in the region, its policy towards neighbors and peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Mr. Mottaki said Iran upholds territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. “I have told during the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev we should do the utmost in this field”, he stressed.
The guest advised that the Iranian businessmen are interested in machine building, medicines production and a number of other fields noting the importance of granting them tax and customs privileges.
They also exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
