Steffen Baumgart extends his contract with 1. FC Köln until 2025

FC Head Coach Steffen Baumgart has extended his contract with 1. FC Köln that was previously dated to 30th June 2024 - as agreed upon in the previous campaign - for a further year until 30th June 2025, according to the official website of the club.

Steffen Baumgart agreed to join 1. FC Köln in May 2021. In his first season as head coach, he and his coaching staff led FC to seventh place in the Bundesliga and qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League Play-offs.

After successfully securing the Group Stage with the win against Fehervar, FC narrowly missed out on a place in the knockouts after games against OGC Nice, Partizan Belgrade and 1. FC Slovacko. Thanks to the win against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, 1. FC Köln secured their Bundesliga status for the 2023-24 season and the fifth season in a row.

The first time the club have achieved that feat since the first relegation from the Bundesliga in 1998.
