Taking into account the importance of integration processes for the city’s development, ties with many world countries are being established and maintained.

Thus, friendly relations with a twin city Cherkassi were resumed. The relations, established mid-70s were broken off in 1988. Within the frames of the recently signed agreement, Sumgait delegation has paid a visit to Cherkassi. Prospects of cooperation were defined.

Over 25 years, Sumgait has been linked with a German city of Ludvigshafen. In hard times of February 1988, German friends did not turn away from its partner. Their visits promoted right understanding of the current situation, which facilitated the breakthrough of the informational blockade.

Friendship between the city municipality of Sumgait and Istanbul district Emioglu and also with Chinese city Chu Jou and Syan Dzin is going on.
