TACIS CONTINUES TO FINANCE PROJECTS IN AZERBAIJAN

The EU’s TACIS program is to allocate € 30m in 2004 to finance different projects in Azerbaijan, AzerTAj correspondent has learnt from TACIS Baku office.

The office has already determined two priority directions of its activity as support of the institutional, juridical and administrative reforms and assistance to the private sector’s formation as an integral part of the country’s economic development.

In the framework of the projects, the TACIS experts are going to prepare a package of measures on backing institutional development of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and modernization of the State Customs Committee.

In conclusion, the TACIS officials stated the EU would further support Azerbaijan in creating basis for development of democratic principles and human rights, as well as fulfillment of the obligations undertaken by official Baku in the framework of the agreement on partnership and cooperation in Europe.
