TERROR-FIGHTING NEEDS CONSOLIDATION OF EFFORTS
Asim Mollazadeh, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation let the sitting participants know that the country was subjected to the terror acts committed by Armenian more than once, stressing at that time most countries and international organization did not pay any attention on those actions.
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted addressing the meeting that the Council of Europe defends democracy and human rights not only within Europe but also in other continents. He also stressed his country had fulfilled all the obligations and commitments to the organization, and joined the international conventions. The Premier highly valued the PACE decision on representation in the Council of Europe of the Turkish community of Cyprus as a member of the county’s delegation. Mr. Erdogan called on the Council of Europe to maintain close cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Conference in fighting terrorism. Touching upon the issue of Turkey’s admission to the European Union, the Prime Minister said his county would do its best to join the organization. He answered the numerous related questions from the deputies.
