`There is impression that US has some serious obligations to Armenian Diaspora`
Baku, December 10 (AZERTAC). Chief of the Presidential Administration’s department for international relations Novruz Mammadov responded to the US Secretary of State Hilly Clinton as she subjected Azerbaijan to biased criticism in her statement.
“It is pretty interesting statement. I would say interesting for several reasons. First, discussions on human rights are of great importance in the modern world. The aspiration for protection of these rights is a normal thing. Nevertheless, are human rights divided into various categories in terms of their significance?” said Novruzov, adding US Department of State almost totally disregards violated human rights of nearly 1 million Azerbaijani refugees and displaced persons who became victims of the Armenian aggression.
In her statement of December 9, 2011 on the international human rights day, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton mentioned Azerbaijan as one of negative examples along with Zimbabwe.
“Probably, persons who prepared the secretary`s speech referred to the logic of the English alphabet and speaking about Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe (like the first and last letters of the English alphabet - author). However, either they learnt it poorly (at least Armenia must come before Azerbaijan in the alphabet - author) or we are facing double standards of the US foreign policy,” Novruzov underlined.
According to him, all arguments are obvious in this case.
“I feel as if there is United States` unnatural love for Armenia. This is the attitude America demonstrates and every time proves it remains committed to this course,” he said. According to Mammadov said USA kept silent even when there were gross irregularities in elections in Armenia and demonstration break up left 30 people dead.
“Even if there are hundreds of political prisoners in Armenia`s prisons, the authorities closed all media outlets and declare state of emergency, USA will be keeping total silence.
I am falling under impression that USA has some serious obligations to the Armenian Diaspora, which make both media outlets and officials make negative assessments solely against Azerbaijan, speaking of Armenia in a positive way only,” he said.
