TURKEY PRESENTS PLAN OF UNIFICATION OF CYPRUS
Turkey has prepared the plan of unification in the current year of the Turkish and Greek parts of Cyprus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Abdullah Gul has told a news conference. As he said, the plan has been submitted to the Secretary General of United Nations Kofi Annan. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, having noted, that “the given plan is closely studied in the United Nations, and we trust in the solution of the problem”, has emphasized, that the Cyprian Turks support settlement of the conflict.
Mr. Abdullah Gul informed, that the plan provides the beginning of new negotiations between two parts of island, mutual cancellation of trade restrictions and should satisfy both sides.
For the immediate settlement of the problem, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Great Britain Jack Strew also made active efforts, and the Prime Minister of Turkey Rejep Tayyip Erdogan, in turn, in conversation with the president of Russia - one of five permanent members of Security Council of the United Nations Vladimir Putin, has called him to do the utmost for solution of the given problem.
