TWO NEW GAS FIELDS SPOTTED IN IRAN
Baku, July 6 (AZERTAC). Iran`s oil minister says two new gas fields have been discovered in the Persian Gulf and the northeastern Iranian province of Khorassan Razavi.
"A new gas field with in-place reserves of 700bn m3 of natural gas has been spotted 30 kilometers southeast of Kish Island (in the Persian Gulf)", Masoud Mirkazemi was quoted by Fars news agency as telling reporters on Monday.
"The gas field spans a 588sq km area. If developed, it will be able to produce 70mn m3 of gas daily", added the oil minister.
He also announced the discovery of another new gas field in Khorassan Razavi province with in-place reserves of 62.5bn m3 of natural gas.
The field can produce 4mn m3 of natural gas on a daily basis, Mirkazemi added.
The new discoveries come less than a month after two other natural gas fields were spotted in the province
