UAE TEAM SATISFIED WITH AZERBAIJAN CAMP
The UAE team is in preparation for the Rashid International Volleyball Tournament commencing next Friday. The UAE meet Pakistan in the tournament opener.
UAE manager Abu Bakr Al Jessmy said that it would not be easy for the hosts to win the title.
"The tournament fields strong teams in our group 'A' like Egypt, China, and Pakistan. It will not be easy to beat them.
"However this doesn't mean we are going to give up. We will fight in all three matches."
The UAE team manager expressed satisfaction with the two-week camp in Azerbaijan.
"Although we left without three of our key players, Khalid Al Doassary, Hamid Omer and Hasan Rajab, the camp was very successful. The players trained thrice a day under coach Abdullah Ali Awad. We spent the last three days in the capital Baku."
According to Al Jessmy, the UAE team played four warm-up matches during the duration of the training camp.
"We played three matches against the Azerbaijan national team, winning two and losing one. "We also played the fourth match against the league champions in Baku and we beat them," he informed.
Meanwhile, the UAE VA national team's committee announced the UAE teams (senior and youth) set to participate in the Rashid tournament.
The UAE youth will play their last warm-up game against the Lebanese community team at the Al Shabab indoor hall. The warm-up game for the seniors will be against the Chinese national team on Wednesday.
The Chinese will arrive in Dubai tomorrow morning.
