UN representative: AI could revolutionize demining efforts

“Artificial intelligence could revolutionize demining efforts. In particular, over the past two years, the technology has led to significant advances in our ability to detect and neutralize mines and to enhance our capacity to move safely through hazardous areas,” Tim Lardner, Director for Europe and Central Asia at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), told journalists.
He underlined that the use of AI and other advanced technologies to improve demining efforts is still at an early stage.
