UNESCAP EXPERTS IN AZERBAIJAN
Experts of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Eugene Gherman and Amitava Mukherjee are visiting Azerbaijan.
On Tuesday, they met with Director of the Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms at the Ministry of Economic Development Namiq Tagiyev.
Mr. Tagiyev informed the UNESCAP experts about economic reforms conducted in Azerbaijan.
He said his country is among the world leaders in the economic growth rate.
Namiq Tagiyev stressed Azerbaijan is involved in a number of regional projects, which he said play huge role in the region`s economic development.
He noted Azerbaijan has created favorable conditions for foreign investors, saying it is demonstrated by the fact about $7.6 billion was invested in the country`s economy in 2006.
The UNESCAP exerts also met with Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sevinj Hasanova to discuss the course of the implementation of a project aimed at launching a system on estimation, monitoring, and planning of incomes in the country.
Sevinj Hasanova said over 550,000 jobs have been created in Azerbaijan over the last three years.
She said the Ministry of Economic Development is ready to assist UNESCAP in implementing the project.
UNESCAP experts Eugene Gherman and Amitava Mukherjee said they will do everything possible to contribute to further enhancement of Azerbaijan-UNESCAP relations.
