UNESCO: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIN TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPING
In an interview to AzerTAj correspondent, K. Mammadov stressed the importance of information and communication technologies, which have instant influence on the society development. The area of their influence embrace governmental structures, civil society institutions, such fields as education culture, etc.
Participants touched upon the issues, associated with the establishment of a fair and global information society, taking into account national interests.
The discussions mainly revolved around the documents to be considered in the forthcoming World Summit in Geneva late December. The participants focused on the draft activity plan and resolution of information society principles. Also were heard a report of the International director on the work implemented in the intervals between the sessions. In addition, new session Chairman was elected.
As to the development of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan, Kh. Mammadov pointed to the Presidential Decree on “Approval of the National strategy on information and communication technologies in the name of development of Azerbaijan for 2003-2012”. Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers is working to put this Decree into practice.
