IV world universal fight and knife throwing championship was held in the Kyiv Palace of Sports, Ukraine on November 27-30.

Strongest athletes from 25 world countries including Azerbaijan gathered to competed in Unifight tournament. The national team consisted of 7 athletes was led by president of Unifight federation of Azerbaijan, senior coach Azer Hasanov and chairman of Sport Club of Army of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, colonel Natig Aliyev. The team consists of Mehti Mehtiyev (60 kg), Kenan Mehdiyev (70 kg), Nijat Tagiyev (75 kg), Samir Ilyasli (80 kg), Ramil Bayramov (85 kg), Zaur Islamov (90 kg), Elsever Bagirov (95 kg).

The strongest athletes should overcome barriers, throw knives, hit the target from air weapons and fight using boxing, kichboxing, karate, sambo etc skills.

Kenan Mehtiyev (under 70 kg) conceded the final to world champion, Russian athlete Nikolay Ochkin and won a silver medal. Samir Ilyasli (under 80 kg) also won the silver medal cause he lost the fight to Igor Rudnev (RF). Zaur Islamov (under 90 kg) ranked third. Despite some intrigues of referees Elsever Bagirov won the gold medal following the appeal of the team.
