US DEPARTMENT OF STATE POISED TO SET UP A HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER IN AZERBAIJAN
Representative of the Bureau of Human Rights and Democracy of the US Department of State for South Caucasus states Wendy Silverman met with chairman of the Milli Majlis permanent commission for international and interparliamentary relations Samad Seyidov, October 20.
Mr. Seyidov told the guest of the Milli Majlis’s activity, the steps taken towards protection of human rights and freedoms as well as Azerbaijani parliamentarians work at the PACE.
Wendy Silverman stressed his satisfaction with his third visit to Azerbaijan. His primary mission is to prepare a report on human rights protection and democracy development in the South Caucasus states. Bureau of Human Rights and Democracy of the US Department of State for South Caucasus has worked out a program to establish Human Rights and Democracy Center in Azerbaijan. The program will be realized by the Democracy Institute.
