U.S. Embassy representatives visit AZERTAC

Michael Hackett, Counselor for Public Affairs at the United States Embassy in Azerbaijan, Anthony Dean Tranchina, Press Attaché and Spokesperson, and Vugar Abdusalimov, Public Relations and Communications Specialist, visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) on Friday.
The guests first toured the agency’s photo archive, viewing images depicting National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participating in various events. They also explored a museum exhibition featuring the technical equipment used by AZERTAC over the years.
During the meeting with the U.S. embassy delegation, they were informed about the activities of AZERTAC. It was noted that this year marked the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, and AZERTAC celebrated its 105th anniversary. Currently, AZERTAC has partnership relations with over 50 news agencies around the world. They found out that the agency has correspondent bureaus in many countries of the world, including the United States.
Michael Hackett, US Embassy’s Counselor for Public Affairs, expressed his gratitude for the meeting, noting that they are closely monitoring the professionalism of AZERTAC. He also hailed the agency’s role in the Azerbaijani press.
The U.S. embassy representatives also toured the editorial offices of AZERTAC, as they were informed that the news agency wires news in Azerbaijani, Russian, English, German, French, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish languages, also posting photo and video news on its information resources.
The guests paid tribute at the bas-relief dedicated to AZERTAC’s martyred journalist Maharram Ibrahimov as they were briefed about the life and activities of the martyred Azerbaijani journalist.
