US MARKING DAY OF THANKSGIVING
The Day of Thanksgiving, with the history of 400 years approximately, dates back the XVII century. In 1620, a group of believers because of discord with the English church settled in the American continent in the territory of the present state of Massachusetts. Many of them could not acclimatize the severe winter and died of hunger and numerous diseases. In spring, the local Indian population rendered them assistance, teaching to grow grain and hunting. The inhabitants getting rich harvest celebrated this day and invited the Indians to join them.
And since that time, every fall the Americans marks this Day as the sign of thanksgiving to the Indians who helped their ancestors to settle down in the new continent. On the Day of Thanksgiving, there should be certainly a fried turkey, bailed potato, mashed potation and cake with pumpkin. Despite there has elapsed almost 400 years, holiday menu of the Americans does not differ from that of their ancestors.
Another tradition of this holiday is that on this day all members of the family should gather at home. The Americans, from the early young years, who prefer to live independently, on the Day of Thanksgiving, wherever they are, should join their families.
