US, RUSSIA DISCUSSING ISSUES OF COMBAT AGAINST TERRORISM
The tenth sitting of the US-Russia Working Group (WG) on combat against terrorism ended. During the 2-day discussions, the parties have focused issues of financing terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and prevention of usage of the biological, nuclear and radiological materials for terrorism. Also discussed were the issues of situation in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Afghanistan and the Balkans. The parties reached an agreement on working around the concrete proposals to speed up development through economic cooperation and integration to the world community.
The US First Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and first Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Trubnikov headed the Working Group. Next sitting is due in Russia in January 2004.
