VOLUMES OF AUTO TRANSPORTATION INCREASED

The total volume of auto transportation in the country has increased by 6,6 percent compared to the same period of 2002.

From the beginning of the year (taking into account data of individuals, acting as non-juridical persons), 28,7 million tons of cargo has been transported, State Statistics Committee reports. This figure exceeds the expected volumes. All the same, the volume of cargo turnover increased by 12,8 percent and reached 2,6 billion ton/km. Passenger transportation achieved 383,7 thousand people. Private sector has played an important role in cargo and passenger transportation.
