WORKSHOP FOR PARLIAMENT JOURNALISTS HELD
The program coordinator of Azerbaijan representation LINKS Shahin Bayramov who have opened action, and executive director of organization LINKS Denis Sammut have noted its importance.
It was stated that journalists render the biggest influence on work of politicians in the world. In this sense, the role of parliamentary journalists is great. The basic purpose of seminar consists in informing parliamentary journalists of Azerbaijan on experience of the developed countries, especially, the Great Britain, carrying out of mutual exchange of views. For this purpose, the program coordinator of LINKS Kathryn Smith, one of leading British journalists Nicolas Johns, more than 30 years working as the parliamentary correspondent of “London Times” and BBC have been invited to Azerbaijan.
Press secretary of the Milli Majlis Akif Nasirov has noted that one of the basic purposes of carrying out of action consists in studying the international experience and development of communications between journalists. A. Nasirov has told about the role of journalists in coverage of work of the Milli Majlis, the conditions created for them in parliament.
Then, Kathryn Smith and Nicolas Johns have in detail told about parliamentary journalism in the Great Britain. Nicolas Johns has noted: “Unlike many countries of the world, including Azerbaijan, in the Great Britain, for TV, certain restrictions in coverage of work of parliament have been entered. N. Johns has noted, that supports canceling of the said restrictions in the country.
Finally, the journalists had comprehensive exchange of views on a range of questions.
