World`s Largest Floating Christmas Tree in Rio de Janeiro
Baku, October 26 (AZERTAC). According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world`s largest floating Christmas tree is located in Brazil, more specifically in Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, in Rio de Janeiro. This past Saturday took place the 15th edition of the inauguration ceremony, attended by some 35,000 people, including both cariocas – Rio de Janeiro locals- and those currently enjoying tourism in Rio de Janeiro. The celebration included a Christmas music show, fireworks, the lighting of the tree and lots of applauses. This is considered the third largest event in the city of Rio de Janeiro, right after the carnival and the “Reveillon” or year-end party. The party theme this year was “History of encounters.” The tree has 18 sets of lights in different colors, that total 105 miles of decorative garlands. This includes 3.3 million of micro strobe lights 2100, which produces an effect of shining stars. Under the new strategy of the Brazilian energy matrix to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy and power consumption were achieved by including more efficient generators, based on biofuels. The decoration of the tree, the sky and the scene of the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas can be seen online at the official site of Árvore Natal da Lagoa. The animation and interactivity for the internet visitor were achieved with the use of 3D modeling in Flash AS3. This allows you to enjoy three-dimensional effects in your personal computer, with no need to use special 3D glasses.
The tree will remain on display at the Rodrigo de Freitas Lake, in the Park Cantagalo do Rio de Janeiro until January 6, 2012. If you are making a trip to Rio de Janeiro at this time, or plan to spend Christmas in Rio de Janeiro or New Year in Rio de Janeiro, do not forget to visit the tree at night and enjoy the lights and the atmosphere. Residents of the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro are enjoying the holiday season with a giant Christmas tree floating on a lake. The 85-meter steel tree on Lagoa Lake is the world`s tallest Christmas tree on water. Three million electric bulbs were litting up on Saturday evening, with fireworks exploding over the tree. The Olympic symbol of five interlocking rings to celebrate Rio de Janeiro`s successful bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. As per my point of view, approximately, one million people are expected to visit the lake by January 6th, and on the last day the Christmas tree will be illuminated.
