WUF13 hosts event on tackling plastic pollution

A side event titled “Tackling Plastic Pollution: Promoting Liveable Cities and a Circular Economy” was organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources as part of the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The event featured speeches by Vugar Karimov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources; Julio Cordano, Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (via video message); Ismail Serageldin, Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center; Nigar Arpadarai, Member of Parliament and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29; and Andre Dzikus, Chief of the Urban Basic Services Section at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
Representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, and “Tamiz Shahar” (Clean City) OJSC participated in the panel discussions.
