Zagatala hit again by another earthquake
Baku, May 10 (AZERTAC). Another 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Thursday 13 km from Zagatala region of Azerbaijan.
A magnitude 3.5 was felt in Zagatala, while neighboring areas felt 3.0 magnitude tremors, according to National Seismological Service Center.
The first magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Azerbaijan’s Zagatala region on Monday morning. The earthquake was recorded at 09.40 local time 17 km south-west from Azerbaijan’s north-west Zagatala region (450 km from Baku, 535 m above sea level).
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake was felt Monday morning in Zagatala and Gah regions, while neighboring Sheki, Oguz, Gazakh and Tovuz regions of Azerbaijan are reported feeling a 2.5 magnitude tremors. The tremors were also felt in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Three aftershocks in total hit Zagatala area on Monday between 9:40 and 10:40 local time.
A strong earthquake has destroyed 1360 houses and damaged 20 social facilities.
The last time the area received such a series of earthquakes was February, 2012.
