Azerbaijan's dolma included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list

The preparation of dolma has been included in UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as the Azerbaijani tradition during the twelfth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea.

The appeal for the inclusion of the preparation of the Azerbaijani dolma in UNESCO list was jointly made by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to UNESCO.

Azerbaijan`s request was approved despite the Armenian side`s protest.

Speaking on behalf of the Azerbaijani delegation, Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Ambassador Anar Karimov noted that the tradition of cooking dolma covers a wider geography than the borders of Azerbaijan country.

On behalf of the government of Azerbaijan, Anar Karimov thanked UNESCO and the Committee for the decision.
