Azerbaijan and World Intellectual Property Organization enjoy close relations, PM Mammadov

“Azerbaijan and World Intellectual Property Organization enjoy close relations,” said Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov as he met with Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry to discuss prospects for developing cooperation between the government of Azerbaijan and the organization.
The prime minister described the WIPO as an organization involved in addressing topical issues.
PM Mammadov hailed close ties between Azerbaijan and the World Intellectual Property Organization, pointing to a number of documents which were signed between the country and the organization. “The WIPO contributed to the development of a legal framework of intellectual property in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan makes its contributions to this area, which is a very promising one. President Ilham Aliyev pays great attention to this area. The newly created Intellectual Property Agency is an obvious example of this,” he said.
WIPO Director General Francis Gurry thanked the government of Azerbaijan for supporting the organization. He hailed the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The director general expressed his confidence that bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WIPO will continue developing in the years to come.
