Assistant to President: Azerbaijan hands over corpses of 30 servicemen and one civilian to Armenia

Baku, October 29, AZERTAC

Azerbaijan has handed over corpses of 30 servicemen and a civilian to Armenia, Assistant to the Azerbaijani President, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists.

Hikmat Hajiyev said: “On the instruction of President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Republic of Azerbaijan has put forward an humanitarian initiative to hand over corpses of about 30 Armenian soldiers and officers who remained on the battlefield to the opposite side. Armenia did not show good intentions in this matter. In this regard, we highly appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and personally Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu. As a result of the Russian Federation's support for this humanitarian initiative, the Armenian side agreed to open a humanitarian corridor in the direction of Gazakh-Tovuz and accept bodies of its soldiers. This operation was recently completed.”
