7 charred to death as massive fire breaks out in Delhi’s Gokulpuri

As many as seven people lost their lives in a massive fire that broke out in the shanties of Delhi’s Gokulpuri area on Saturday, according to India Today.
At least 60 huts were gutted in the fire.
The firefighting department received a call at around 1 am on Saturday and were told about the incident. Around 13 fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames within a few hours.
“We recovered 7 charred bodies which are unrecognisable, it seemed that these people were sleeping and couldn't escape as the fire spread extremely fast. As many as 60 huts were also completely burnt. We are yet to know the reasons behind the fire,” Delhi Fire Director Atul Garg told ANI.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal offered condolences and said that he will meet the victims of the fire incident.
MP from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari expressed grief over the deaths of seven people. He also demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident from CM Kejriwal. “A judicial inquiry should be conducted into the whole matter and an assistance of Rs 1 crore should be announced immediately to the kin,” he said. Manoj Tiwari visited the Gokulpuri fire site and met the family members of the victims.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
