7th INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF AZERBAIJANI STUDENTS AND ALUMNI ABROAD STARTS IN BAKU
The 7th International Forum of Azerbaijani Students and Alumni Abroad started at the Gafgaz (Caucasus) University in Baku on Saturday.
The forum is aimed at expanding cooperation among students studying overseas as well as to demonstrate their solidarity.
The event discussed different issues related to students who study in foreign countries.
Today, the number of Azerbaijani students abroad is approximately 3,000, of them, 1,000 were sent by the Azerbaijani Government, while others through international educational programs and thanks to their own funds.
Among those who attended the forum were Deputy Minister of Education Elmar Gasimov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev and Vice-Chairman of State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad Valeh Hajiyev.
The speakers stressed President Ilham Aliyev`s support to Azerbaijani youth studying abroad.
The President has approved the state program for 2008-2015 that provides for sending of about 5,000 students to get education in foreign countries.
The forum will be continued on August 12.
