ARMENIA IS DEPRIVED FROM ITS OWN TELECOMMUNICATIONS
AzerTAj , making reference to Noyan Tapan news agency of Armenia reports that in the near time, Russia will be managing telecommunication field of Armenia. The negotiations on passing 90 percent of governmental shares of ArmenTel, owned by OTE Company to one of Russian companies are being currently held. A telecommunication company, operating in northwest of Russia, is a possible buyer of the shares.
Shares of ArmenTel will be passed to the Russian party to cover the debts of Armenia for gas supplies. The shares have been estimated at $60-70 million. This low enough price is explained by the fact that the new owner will cover debts of ArmenTel, which are coming to $100 million.
In case of implementation of this program, the Russian company becomes the main operator of the satellite communication in Armenia.
