AWARDING CEREMONY OF CINEMATOGRAPHERS’ UNION NATIONAL PRIZE ON STAND-BY
The “Gizil Chirag” movie prize was instituted by the Cinematographers Union of Azerbaijan in 1991, but because of financial squeezes, it proved to be impossible to hold the awarding ceremony yearly as it had been scheduled at first.
Applications have already been filed for 45 films produced by “Azerbaijanfilm”, TV-radio Company “Lider”, “AzTV” and other private and state-run TV companies since 1995 until 2003.
The jury headed by Rustam Ibrahimbayov, comprises such famous movie figures of Azerbaijan as Eldar Guliyev, Rasim Balayev, Rasim Ojagov, Shafiga Mammadova, Ogtay Mirgasimov, Ayaz Salayev, overall, 34 Board Members of the Cinematographers Union. The winners will be determined in 12 nominations – feature, television, documentary, short, animation films – for best director, best script, best cameraman, best sound producer and best actor and actress. Besides, there are 5 nominations to be awarded by the Cinematographers Union Secretariat – best debut, best producer, best cinema propaganda and critics, long-term activity in the movies and patronage of art.
Guests from Turkey, Russia, Israel, Germany, France, England, US, Moldova and Ukraine are expected to attend the awarding ceremony.
