AZERBAIJANI-UKRAINIAN RELATIONS HIGHLY ASSESSED
As was informed, having welcomed the visitors, Minister Vilayat Guliyev stated that the current visit would promote strengthening and expansion of business ties between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, expressed confidence that cooperation would have in the long-term great value. Having noted that he supports continuation and henceforth cooperation within the framework of the international organizations, the Minister emphasized the necessity of the greater intensity of close cooperation between the foreign policy departments of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Litvin highly estimated the relations between his country and Azerbaijan, especially stressing the importance of expansion of connections in trade, economic, power, humanitarian and other areas, including fruitful cooperation both between parliaments, and in the frameworks of GUUAM. The visitor has in detail informed Minister Vilayat Guliyev on the political situation in Ukraine, carrying out political reforms and about the forthcoming presidential elections in this country.
Further, head of the foreign policy department of Azerbaijan in detail informed the visitor on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict and the work done for its settlement, activity of the Minsk Group of OSCE in this area and heavy conditions of the refugees, noted the necessity of augmentation of efforts of the world community for the prompt peace, fair settlement of the conflict on the basis of principles and norms of international law.
The parties exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
