AZERBAIJAN ATTACHES IMPORTANT SIGNIFICANCE TO COOPERATION WITH INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND
PRIME-MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVED HEAD OF IMF MISSION IN AZERBAIJAN
Having warmly greeting the guest, Prime-Minister Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the co-operation between the International Monetary Fund and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
John Wakemann-Linn expressed his gratitude to the Prime-Minister for the warm reception, wished President Heydar Aliyev speedy recovery and return to homeland, and congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his appointment Prime-Minister wishing him every success on the honorable and important post.
The head of the mission expressed as well his satisfaction with economic and structural reforms, which have been carrying out in Azerbaijan for the last years. According to him, recent allocation of the regular tranche to Azerbaijan would promote further acceleration of the reforms. John Wakemann-Linn described Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the International Monetary Fund as one of the main reasons for dynamic development of economy, banking and financial systems in the country.
Having thanked John Wakemann-Linn for the kind wishes addressing to the President of Azerbaijan, Prime-Minister Ilham Aliyev let him know that head of our state Heydar Aliyev’s health is improving day by day, that the treatment is approaching the end, and he would return to homeland soon. The Prime-Minister also expressed to the guest his gratitude for the congratulations on his appointment as Prime-Minister.
Touching upon the economic and social reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan, Prime-Minister Ilham Aliyev pointed out that the support rendered by the International Monetary Fund to the country in transition period, has played important role in acceleration of these reforms. The head of the Azerbaijani Government stressed as well the importance to continue the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and IMF.
Afterwards, the parties have held a comprehensive exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
The reception was attended by permanent representative of the International Monetary Fund in Azerbaijan Bazil Zavoyko.
