AZERBAIJAN-RUSSIA PARTNERSHIP TO BE DEVELOPED
Newly appointed Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov gave his first press- conference at the Ministry on March 17. He updated the journalists on the country’s foreign policy and outlined the prospects of relations with other states. According to him, the today’s foreign policy will be continued. Asked about the role of Azerbaijan in the Russian foreign policy, and if Russia is expected to intensify its activity in settlement of Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Minister pointed out that the high level of Russia-Azerbaijan relationship has been reaffirmed during recent telephone conversation between the two presidents, and that Russia will do continue its efforts for resolution of the conflict within the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group as one of its Co-chair. “We cannot solve the problem instead of the interested parties, and hope a direct dialogue between Yerevan and Baku will promote finding compromise to stabilize the situation in the region,” he said.
