“It is absolutely necessary that decisions of the UN Security Council were completely carried out and that it was done by all member states”, the UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterrish stated at the joint press conference with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, responding to the question of non-implementation within 25 years of 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Secretary General emphasized need of respect by UN member states for decisions of the Security Council.
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, answering the same question, said: “The mentioned resolutions have been adopted during fighting. They have in many respects allowed, along with those steps which were taken, including our country, to stop this bloody situation, to transfer it to the course of political dialogue. And with the consent of all parties, it was set up the OSCE Minsk Group within which it has been decided to resolve all remained issues, including the question of release of territories and political settlement through determination of the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Russia together with the United States and France as the cochairman of the OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the question. With the full consent of Baku and Yerevan, we work on realizing tasks which we all face. Therefore, it is necessary the consensus between parties of the conflict. As soon as we move in this direction, I am sure that settlement will be not far off”, Lavrov underlined.
