Azerbaijan, Romania discuss energy cooperation

Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has met with Romanian Ambassador to the country Vasile Soare.
The minister congratulated the ambassador on his new appointment, and wished him success in his future activities. The sides touched upon the relations of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, including energy cooperation. They stressed the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor project in the development of this cooperation. The two highlighted the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, as well as the potential of the Bulgarian-Romanian interconnector and the BRUA project to expand the Southern Gas Corridor in the future. Parviz Shahbazov hailed Romania`s participation in the meetings of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and its support for the project.
During the meeting, they discussed Azerbaijan`s close cooperation with Romania on trade in crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemical products. The Azerbaijani minister highlighted the importance of the transition to renewable energy sources, reforms carried out in the country in this direction, in particular, the country's offshore wind energy potential, plans for the production of electricity and “green hydrogen” at the expense of this resource. The sides exchanged views on the prospects for expanding existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of "green energy".
