Azerbaijan not to attend OPEC Vienna meeting
Baku, October 20, AZERTAC
“Azerbaijan will not be represented at the meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to be held in Vienna on October 21, and at the technical conference of the oil experts from non-OPEC countries,” Azerbaijan`s Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev has told journalists. According to the Minister, the issues to be discussed at the meeting were not so interesting for Azerbaijan.
“OPEC has repeatedly looked at the issue of reducing oil production. But, the OPEC countries, led by Saudi Arabia, have never done anything concrete. There is no doubt, if such a decision is adopted in time, if the production of oil is cut to 1-2 million of barrels per day, then the world market can see a surge in oil price. It will be beneficial for Azerbaijan, too,” Mr. Aliyev said.
