Azerbaijani FM meets with his Slovak counterpart

As part of his working visit to Slovak Republic, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with country’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Wlachovský.
Following the one-on-one meeting, the FMs held an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations from both sides.
The pair exchanged views on the existing bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields, including political, economic, energy, tourism, education, agriculture, legal and cultural-humanitarian ones.
Hailing the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, the sides discussed ways of further developing bilateral cooperation as well as expanding diplomatic representations and intensifying high-level reciprocal visits.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Slovak counterpart about the process of normalization of the Azerbaijani-Armenian relations as well as the current situation in the region, the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories. FM Bayramov highlighted Slovak companies, which participate in these reconstruction works and mine clearing equipment purchased from Slovakia. The Minister also touched upon Armenia’s attempts to derail the peace process, its provocative statements, provocations and mine threat.
Minister Miroslav Wlachovský noted that Slovakia attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, pointing out ample opportunities for further developing cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He stressed that Slovakia supports the efforts by the European Union towards normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
Following the expanded meeting, the ministers signed the agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
Then, the ministers responded to questions from journalists.
