Belavia changes flight routes via Eastern Ukraine
Minsk, July 21 (AZERTAC). The Belarusian national air carrier Belavia changes the routes of flights above Eastern Ukraine, BelTA learned from Deputy Director General for Marketing and Foreign Economic Activities of Belavia Igor Cherginets.
“The decision to change the routes of flights via the airspace of Eastern Ukraine was made because of the crash of the Boeing 777 civil aircraft of Malaysia Airlines in Donetsk Oblast,” he explained. This decision is necessary to determine the reasons for the accident.
“At present the aviation group is mulling over the possibility to reschedule flights,” the Belavia Deputy Director General said.
Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines crashed in Donetsk Oblast near the Russian-Ukrainian border on 17 July. The aircraft flew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. There were 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board. According to the preliminary data, all of them died. The plane was cruising at the altitude of 10,000 meters.
After the plane crash the European Organization for Safety of Air Navigation closed the airspace over Ukraine for the civil aviation.
