CALIFORNIA TO ANNOUNCE MAY 28 AS AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL DAY
Baku, May 22 (AZERTAC). A number of cities of US California State will announce May 28 as Azerbaijan National Day, the Azerbaijan American Council (AAC) says referering to greetings sent by California local authorities.
Azerbaijanis living in the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Irvine City Council in California will celebrate anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), in accordance with the Councils` decisions.
The Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC) received greeting proclamations, also recognizing AAC`s contributions to the social and economic life of the local community, from the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Irvine City Council in California.
The letter reads: “Azerbaijan was proclaimed on May 28th, 1918, becoming the first secular parliamentary democracy in the Muslim world, recognized by other nations including the United States of America. The territorial integrity, state sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan have unconditionally recognized and supported by the United States and the United Nations since 1992.”
Along with the AAC, Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) and US Azeris Network (USAN) also received greeting proclamations from US officials, including members of the US Congress and the Governor of the State of New York.
