COOPERATION PROTOCOL SIGNED

In the framework of the Days of Russian Culture in Azerbaijan, a meeting between Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Polad Bulbul oglu and Minister of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Alexander Sokolov has been held at the Museum Center.
The minister Bulbuloglu briefly informed the guests on the situation of the museums and libraries in the Republic. He noted that there are 10 thousand libraries in Azerbaijan, and over 4 thousand belong to the Ministry of Culture. Their activities, according to him, have to be brought in line with modern requirements i.e. use digital mediums. In Russia, librarianship is on a very high level; Russian specialist stayed in Azerbaijan as a COE expert to carry out great job, now we have to deal with reorganization of the libraries.
Minister of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Alexander Sokolov thanked for the meeting and expressed satisfaction with the state of cultural links between the two countries. He briefly told of Russia’s international cultural relations and pointed to everyday important work carried out buy by his Ministry.
Afterwards, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Polad Bulbul oglu and Minister of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Alexander Sokolov signed Cooperation Protocol and Agreement on Interaction in Librarianship.
This Cooperation Protocol was signed on the base of the Agreement on Cooperation in the spheres of Culture, Science and Education between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Azerbaijan of 6 June 1995, the Agreement on Culture of 16 June 1995 and the Program of Cooperation in Humanitarian Sphere in 2004-2006 of 6 February 2004.
The document implies conducting Days of Culture, organization of Festivals, Exchange of Musical Groups, Tours of Drama and Music Theaters, individual performers etc., as well as cooperation in the sphere of amateur and folk arts, promotion of establishment of direct contacts between Houses of Amateur and Folk Arts and amateur troupes of the two countries, student exchange, creative probations etc.
In conclusion, the guest viewed the Carpet Museum exhibits.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Russia to Azerbaijan.
