Chapecoense appoint Vagner Mancini as new coach

Baku, December 10, AZERTAC

Chapocoense have appointed a new coach following the plane crash that killed most of their players and coaching staff, according to Sky Sports.

The Brazilian club has just six eligible players after the plane carrying the squad to Colombia for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final came down outside Medellin, killing 71 people.

Vagner Mancini, who has coached several Brazilian clubs including Gremio, Santos and Vasco de Gama, has agreed to replace Caio Junior, who was among the dead.

Chapecoense are due to compete in the Copa Libertadores - South America's equivalent of the Champions League - next season for the first time.

In the wake of the tragedy, several Brazilian clubs offered to loan them players.
