DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS OF AZERBAIJAN IN TURKEY READY FOR ELECTIONS
- All conditions for manifestation of the constitutional right for voting have been created for the citizens of Azerbaijan, working, studying in higher educational establishments and being on business trip to the Republic of Turkey as well as for holding well-organized and democratic elections.
The elections in Ankara will be held in the premises of the Azerbaijani cultural center. In Istanbul, Azerbaijanis will have a chance to vote for Presidential contenders at the Consulate General of Azerbaijan. The register of voters contains the names of citizens registered by the Embassy and Consulate General and these lists are hanged on the stands at polling stations. Non-registered citizens will be included into extra list. Election placards of Presidential contenders have been also hanged at the polling stations. The course of voting may be followed by monitors, who received a special mandate.
Deputies of the Turkish Parliament, members of public organizations of that country, representatives of mass media are visiting Azerbaijan to monitor and cover the course of the elections in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, Ambassador said, false and slandering articles are still being published by the Yeni Musavat newspaper, as if Embassy and Consulate General of Azerbaijan interfered air of a program about Presidential nominee Isa Gambar on Turkish TV channels.
As you know, agitation basing on lies and slander is going on. Illogical claims, absurd screens, not corresponding the reality, insult, blackmail have become an integral part of that newspaper. They have no idea what does it mean “democracy”, they are not informed about the notion “free press” in a democratic country. Do Ambassador or Consul have a right to interfere work of private TV channels? Can they give them any assignments?
No one can tell Yeni Musavat not to defend its nominee. Tell public about program of your nominee and explain its plans. One cannot reach his aims by means of intrigues and terror in the press.
Presidential elections are to be held on October 15 in Azerbaijan. I am sure that our citizens will give their votes for the most worthy nominee. We are doing our best to hold these elections in free, democratic and well-organized conditions. The rest is the point of view of voters.
