Deputy speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament meets US delegation

Baku, November 18 (AZERTAC). Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Valeh Alasgarov has met members of Arizona State Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States.

Alasgarov highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements, saying the country has become the regional leader. “Huge projects are carried out in the region thanks to Azerbaijan’s initiatives.”

He highlighted Azerbaijan`s fight against terrorism on a global scale, saying the country`s peacekeepers are actively engaged in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

On the Azerbaijan-US relations, Alasgarov noted the partnership between the two countries is progressing on different fronts. He said many US companies and businessmen are working in Azerbaijan’s oil and other sectors.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Alasgarov said the fact that the problem has not yet been resolved is a serious obstacle to the region’s overall progress.

Senate Republican Leader John McKinney hailed Azerbaijan’s contribution to counter terrorism efforts.
